You can reset this Boot.Config back to defaults by using the VerifyFiles option for the game. In the folder, open 7DaysToDie_Data then rightclick Boot.Config and OpenWith NotePad (sorry, I'm not MacOS fluent, but any text editor should work fine for this). Rightclick on 7Days in your Steam Library and select Properties, then InstalledFiles, select Browse (near the top/right). If you're interested in the Boot.Config tweak: Basically a free 20-40% performance boost in non-GPU-bound situations. For whatever reason it seems to be extra effective in A21 compared to previous alpha's, so that's cool. If you're interesting in a little further tweaking, there's a handy Boot.Config tweak that helps in several UnityEngine games including 7Days. ObjectQuality HIGH (if you want help in cities, otherwise ULTRA should be fine)įor the best appearance and performance balance. I recommend anyone who's already getting decent performance to at least try going into the graphic options menu and setting it to the UltraPreset, then lowering: The SSreflection, Sunshafts and Bloom graphic options are all pretty subtle and situational, so turning them OFF if you need more help on your GPU can give a further boost for very little visual cost. SSreflection from MED-to-LOW-to-OFF makes lesser 5-10%Įach drop in AntiAliasing and ShadowDistance helps a little, so dropping AA-LOW/MED and ShadowDistance MED/HIGH can add up without murdering visuals. Most graphic options make a minor 2-5% difference, except: ShadowsDistance-HIGH or lower can sometimes help a little, OFF can help more but drastically changes how the game looks.so that's a harder trade-off. TerrainQuality-MEDIUM or LOWEST (needs a reset or to be set from mainmenu to affect CPU) ViewDistance-NEAR (need to set from main menu, can't adjust while paused in-game) ObjectQuality-HIGH (or MEDIUM if you're really struggling) If you're seeing low FPS even though your GPU isn't running at 98-100% (usually in cities): Do you guys have a forum/video suggestion i can use to download these mods and troubleshoot them if necessary? Thanks. If you're having poor performance and are wondering what graphic options to adjust for the best performance boosts, this might help. I guess im pretty oblivious as to how i should download and Copy/Paste my save files. While i had the Launcher, i deleted all the files for DF and reinstalled the mod files a couple of times and the POIs were still floating. This will take a bit, but should get you fixed up to play vanilla. Then click on local files and select verify integrity of game files. As for the broken vanilla copy, right click the game from steam, and select properties. Originally posted by Elphame_Gold:The title of your post doesnt seem to match what the post is about. My personal favortie place to get mods is Ĭheck the modding section here in discussions, theres a sticky with some useful links. Now, in regards to what your title asks, the mod launcher seems to be mainly for the larger overhaul mods, but theres a TON of other mods and modlets available. If you used that, then im not sure what else to suggest, other than keep trying, sometimes it just takes a few tries for things to get in order. Its recommended for larger overhaul mods. Instead of hitting "play mod", use the pre sync button instead. I'd recommend deleting your "darkness falls" folder from your mod launcher files, then trying again. Not sure what happened on your computer, but theres a button on the mod launcher labeled "pre-sync mod". This will take a bit, but should get you fixed up to play vanilla.Īs for the other issue, I use 7d2d mod launcher for darkness falls as well, and have zero issues. The title of your post doesnt seem to match what the post is about.
